What Is Vision One Million?
It is the principal soul winning plan for the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists for 2011-2015. The objective is to recruit and enlist one million members throughout the Division to become passionate disciples, actively involved as lay preachers, Bible instructors, small group leaders, intercessors, Bible Workers and Lay witnesses. Additionally, the plan is to baptize one million members by 2014/15 within our division.
A Biblical Basis
The command of Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20 must be understood as a corporate responsibility to which every believer is obligated and must be organized and trained to fulfill. Ellen White, in offering inspired counsel to the church said: “The Seventh-day Adventist Church has been entrusted with the last warning message. They are to allow nothing else to absorb their attention. The proclamation of special solemn truths is the most important activity and that proclamation is to be worldwide in extent” (Testimonies Vol. 9, p. 19).
Each Church Has a Responsibility
The urgency of the gospel demands that Christ’s witnesses do not wait to be approached, but as the sent ones, they are proactive in going to those who need an upgrade in their understanding of their faith relationship. Every church has a corporate witness to its local community. Unfortunately, some churches have lost their influence in their community as a result of infighting, lovelessness, or a church split. The church must seek to keep its witness strong and vibrant in the community. Therefore, as elders and pastors, you must engage your flock to go out into the community and share their faith with everyone who is in their personal circle of influence.
The Goal of Vision One Million
The goal of the Vision One Million Initiative is to effectively address three global giants
affecting the church and the wider society:
1. The global giant of spiritual emptiness
2. The global giant of dysfunctional relationships
3. The global giant of community needs
